Boss Cabins was delighted to be back at this year’s Showman’s Show with an array of new sustainable products and we were even more delighted when our GenFree welfare range scooped first place in the Green Innovation Award, against some very tough competition.

As part of its presentation to the judges, managing director James Kearsey explained how its generator-free solar welfare is cutting emissions on sites all over the UK. Using real data from the online tracking system, he reported that over the past 12 months, replacing traditional diesel welfare cabins with GenFree alternatives has been directly responsible for preventing over 7,275,900 kg of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere, reduced fuel consumption by 2,302,500 litres and cut fuel costs to the end user by £3,684,000*.

During the event, the Showman’s team got to test out the unit’s capabilities first-hand. To assist us in cutting the carbon footprint of the show, Boss Cabins supplied a GenFree unit to house members of the team during the build and open days. It provided a comfortable canteen, office and twin freshwater toilet facilities. All electricity was harvested from solar, meaning the team got to work in silence, In addition, it saved approximately 35 litres of fuel and 111kg of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere, compared to a diesel welfare cabin.

Savings are based on comparison to units of the same size/ function with a basic ‘eco’ spec using 12V battery for lighting and USB charging.
