Temporary event power specialist Power Logistics will be exhibiting at this year’s Showman’s Show. The company has always led the way when it comes to innovating sustainable power solutions and the show presents an opportunity to share details of its latest innovations.

In the last two years, Power Logistics has implemented hybrid energy farms, using battery technologies instead of conventional generators at high-profile events like D-Day 80, Coronation, Radio 1's Big Weekend, BST Hyde Park, and Boomtown. These systems combine various batteries and energy sources, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions through advanced energy monitoring, load-on-demand configurations, and alternative fuels such as hydrogen cells and HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil).

It has also invested in flexible solar panels that are robust, versatile, and significantly lighter, reducing transport costs and emissions. These panels have been successfully deployed at Extreme E, producing substantial energy savings equivalent to 2,000 litres of fuel per race.

Innovation and investment into renewable energy solutions continues and this year the company has deployed methanol fuelled, hydrogen fuel cells at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and BST Hyde Park.

Where it’s really seeing a change though, and working closely with clients to make it work, is in the utilisation of grid power. Grid power significantly reduces the number of generators and fuel used at D Day. We were also able to utilise house power for some of the Trooping the Colour’s power requirements. This was the first time that the Royal Parks had given permission to do so and is something that we’re looking to expand upon for future ceremonial events in London.

At the end of August the Power Logistics team managed, specified and deployed the pioneering battery solution for the Massive Attack, ACT 1.5 one-day event. Collating all stakeholder’s requirements and entering them into its bespoke energy management system. It then devised a plan and oversaw the charging of the various batteries involved. Its energy monitoring was then deployed site wide and provided real-time data throughout the entire build and show period.
