Leading provider of temporary accommodation and welfare facilities to the event industry Qdos Event Hire is set to showcase its accessible product range at this year’s Showman’s Show. Taking place at Newbury Showground from 18th – 19th October, the Qdos stand will feature several accessible units including the recently launched Changing Places unit that was added to its fleet this summer. The purpose-built accessible unit has been designed specifically to improve an event’s inclusivity and ensure that everyone has access to high quality welfare facilities onsite.
Generously proportioned, there is plenty of space to accommodate a wheelchair, a user and two carers. The 20ft x 8ft unit comes complete with extra wide doors, toilet, sink, shower, hoist, drop-down rails, alarm pull cord and audible/visual exterior alarm.
Other units on display will include 10ft x 8ft CTX accessible toilet, accessible wet room, an accessible pod shower and a 20ft x 8ft CTX 3 window ticket office, with a drop-down window for wheelchair users.
James Thomas, Qdos Event Hire’s managing director comments: “We pride ourselves on the quantity and quality of accessible products we offer and The Showman’s Show is an excellent opportunity to showcase the range. Our cabins come fitted with wider doors as standard, the addition of a ramp makes them instantly accessible. We also have multiple accessible toilets and showers suitable for any site or location. In addition, we have numerous adapted vehicles that we provide should they be required.
“The Changing Places unit is an excellent addition to our fleet in Scotland. Fully DDA compliant, it is suitable for both independent use and for those who need additional support and can be deployed to any event site. It has been deployed at several events over the
summer including Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Dundee, The 151st Open and the Women’s Open.”
The unit also has the backing of PAMIS, the only organisation in Scotland that works solely with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their families for a better life.
Fiona Souter, information and inclusive communities director at PAMIS adds: “PAMIS are pleased to learn of Qdos Event Hire's new mobile Changing Places toilet, which will enable disabled people and their families to visit events throughout Scotland, including most recently Radio One's Big Weekend in Dundee. Changing Places toilets ensure that those who need them can stay an entire day at an event without needing to cut the day short or risk of going to the toilet and being changed in unsafe and undignified places. We are delighted that this facility will help to promote inclusion at events across Scotland.”
